My wife is from Louisiana, she is an experienced Hurricane Andrew Survivor and we stay during all hurricanes? Are you ready to battle the hurricane? Are your trees pruned and loose debris all tied down or picked up around the yard for the hurricane to pass? Are your windows boarded up or window shutters installed for the hurricane? Do you have a backup power supply with enough fuel to run for at least a week or two till the utilities are restored from the hurricane damage? Do you have camping supplies available to you to support living conditions from the hurricane damage? Do you have enough water to sustain life for a few weeks after the hurricane? Do you have enough food supplies or MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) to last a few weeks after the hurricane will pass.

For me, being hurricane prepared means taking care of my safety and my families safety during a named hurricane. During hurricane season the threat of loosing a loved one or friend is very possible when they live near the Gulf of Mexico or the eastern Seaboard.

First aid supplies or kits will take care of some of the simplest needs during a hurricane. While the hospitals and emergency response teams will be very busy with more important situations you can assist with just being prepared. A first aid kit for your family can insist of some bandages and antibiotic ointment to aid in minor first aid and allow the emergency response teams to access more people who are really in need.

There are several first aid kits that are on the market and having a mobile first aid kit will have many benefits. The grab and go types will give care to any patient during any natural disaster or road side situations
