Hurricane Season Party Ideas

So you are ready for hurricane season and have made all the necessary preparations to home. We all tend to be without power and our camping instincts kick in. The lanterns are lit the board games have already been played and the kids are fast asleep with the fans running from the portable generator outback to keep the food supply safe. It might be a couple of days before the power will come back on.

It's time for the adults to have a hurricane party! Yeah! The adults can play a few Beer Drinking Games. I was browsing around the internet and found this website called Drunken Lullabies and Beer Drinking Games.
It bring us all back to the older games like Chandeliers, Beer pong, and Quarters but with new tables and table top equipment. What fun is a hurricane if you can't drowned away you bad predicament? Those of us that live in the south know that will find any excuse to have a drink at any given notice. Why not hurricane season?

Have you overlooked your tree pruning for hurricane season?

Throughout the hustle and bustle of getting your hurricane supplies purchased some of us tend to overlook the daunting task of pruning our trees. Pruning your trees regular every season will make the large project smaller as long as you conduct it every year.

I tend to start my tree pruning project at least a couple month before hurricane season ever hits. It is never to late to start your tree pruning as long as it's not a windy day and you have your Tree Pruning Equipment in hand.

Even though tree pruning can seem to be a lot of work I have found a way to make it a family activity! I usually enlist the help of my kids and allow the older teenagers the opportunity to use power tools with the proper training, safety equipment and guidance. The first couple of hurricane seasons they used the saws-all and have progressed up to the small 14" chain saw to cut branches. The sense of responsibility and rewards on their faces expressed with a simple grin lets me (dear old Dad) know that I'm doing my job as a good Father. Enlisting the kids is time well spent plus they know that I'll take them to a movie or ice-cream after we have cleaned up.

Here are some of the basic equipment a home owner can purchase for a tree pruning project before hurricane season ever hits:

Husqvarna ProForest Chain Saw Helmet System
Work Safe Orange Chain Saw Safety Chaps RG-LG-XL
Dewalt Protector Clear High Performance Lightweight Protective Safety Glasses with Wraparound Frame
Brahma Men's Large Glove Leather, Palm Grey, 3-Pack
Commercial Pole Saw
Husqvarna 235 16-Inch 34.4cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw
These tree pruning items will pay for themselves the first use. The cost of tree pruning is very high but I do recommend paying a professional tree pruning contractor if you need to top your trees or the task is above your skill level.

Portable generators for hurricane season

Popular Hurricane Generators make a great backup power supply to keep your food supplies safe and light up the darkness of night when your power grid goes down.

Most of us that live in the south have been without power do to a tropical depression or named hurricane once or twice. With that being said there is much research the will be needed to purchase your very own portable generator for hurricane season.

This is a brief example of household appliance start-up and typical usage. When you purchase a Average size Hurricane Generator ranging from about 4000watts to 6000watts you WILL NOT be able to run your central air conditioner but possible a smaller window AC unit. A much Larger Hurricane Generator Like the Guardian will be needed to run the whole house. Large Hurricane Generators come with a large price tag.

Keep in mind you will not want to exceed your start up power wattage needs when you purchase a hurricane generator. Generators usually have a price tag that starts around $300.00 and can exceed $1000.00 for the quieter models of portable generators. One thing nice about the portable generator is it's mobility so if you have power on at your house you can assist a family member or friend if their power is out.
